This is a sensory story to understand and learn about the life cycle of a ladybird. Prepare the props and follow the story to deliver an engaging experience. We have also included some visual worksheets to help embed the learning.

Before you start you will need
- Make up the smell experience. You need to boil asparagus or bell pepper in water, keep a sample of the water – this creates the smell needed for the story.
- A green felt leaf and yellow balls with hook and loop dots for attaching – we used painted ping pong balls.
- Something to represent the increasing size of the ladybird larva – you could also replicate this with hand movements.
- Soft toy ladybirds and small bags for each ladybird.
- Camouflage net.
- Lifecycle models for each stage.
