Dementia-friendly walks, nature activities and gardening groups

Due to the current situation with the Covid-19 virus, we have decided to pause our group activities. If you are a member of the activity clubs we will keep you updated. In the meantime, we are creating plans to keep you connected, both with each other and with nature, throughout this time. We are monitoring the situation closely following the latest government advice. We are conscious of the importance of the social connections provided by our groups, as well as the benefits of continuing to walk outdoors.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call the office on 01726 222900 or email creativespaces@sensorytrust.org.uk.

We have set up these walks and nature activities for people living with dementia and their carers to get outside and meet like minded people. There are now eight groups running in different parts of Cornwall, some focus on gentle walks while others engage in gardening and pottery.

The walking groups are gentle ambles rather than rambles and a chance to explore the landscape (both natural and industrial), chat and get some fresh air. The walks are short and flexible to suit the needs and wants of the group each week (not to mention the weather). Best of all we always aim to finish with a hot cuppa and a biscuit, we have earned it after all! We know that walking and exercise in general really helps improve circulation, promotes restful sleep and can enhance moods. We also know that spending time outdoors and connecting with nature can enhance general feelings of well-being.

You can find more details about the groups below.
