Community garden design - Pengegon Institute

This is a community project initiated by the charity ‘Cornwall Neighbourhoods for Change’. The project consists of the renovation of the Pengegon Institute building in Camborne, Cornwall, and the creation of an adjacent community garden space.

The Sensory Trust has carried out direct community consultation for the garden content including workshops with different community groups such as young mothers, teenagers, older residents, the Parkinsons Centre and the Womens Institute. The Trust has developed the design with the Pengegon Trust to form a flexible and inclusive community space.

The Garden is about to start construction and is hoping to be completed by May 2005. Local artist Bill Wroath will be running the community art workshops – designing decorations and installations for the garden.
