Commonwealth War Graves Commission
The Sensory Trust has been working with the Commonwealth War Grave Commission
to improve access to the 1,750 acres of ground under the Commission’s
control. A tall order.

One of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission’s
more unusual cemeteries; in the middle of a farmer’s field
in Northern France. |
Addressing the physical access issues on sites which have very particular
and sometimes peculiar challenges is a monumental task. Cemeteries and
memorials are often found in areas that were once the location of a field
hospital or a dressing station close to the battlefield. They can be in
the middle of a field or at the end of a dirt track. Often they are located
within grounds that are not controlled by the Commission.
