Connect survey part two

Survey ended 5th November 2009

As part of the Connect project the Sensory Trust developed a series of questions to help us find out how people feel about going outdoors. We asked visitors to the Symbolworld website to take part in an interactive questionnaire that would help us gain the right sort of information for making sure everyone has access to the outdoors. We covered the issues that are often seen as barriers to getting outdoors. We were really pleased with the response we got and the information it gave us, it has been really helpful for the developments in the project.

However, there was still more we wanted to know. Widgit helped us prepare another set of questions in accessible format.

We will be sharing the results as part of the project report for Connect and using them for our ongoing work as we continue to make getting outdoors a reality for everyone.

Getting outdoors

Being outdoors is very good for your health and well being. It is important that everyone has the opportunity to visit the outdoors and spend time enjoying themselves with friends, family, school or alone.

The Sensory Trust looks at how people benefit from having access to the outdoors and what barriers stop them visiting the outdoors. How can people working in the outdoors make their sites more accessible to all people? How can everyone connect with the outdoors?

We work closely with groups and individuals to find out about people's experiences and expectations to help people design, manage and promote the outdoors and help them improve accessibility.

We work with disability organisations to explore how they can help people enjoy the benefits of access to the outdoors.

We produce information to help people create accessible outdoor sites.

The Sensory Trust works closely with the following organisations:
