Braille/Large
Print Menus
Jo Easingwood (Communications Manager)
Part of the partnership aim of the Sensory Trust and the Eden Project
is to focus on information provision for people with visual impairments.
In addition to developing pre visit information it also includes
on site materials such as Braille and large print.
The Trust wanted to e xplore
ways of providing this information in a clear, consistent manner.
However it was vital to maintain the fun and funky messaging
used at Eden. Working with the graphics team at Eden and the RNIB,
the Trust installed pilot Braille/large print menus
in one of the main restaurants in the visitor centre.
The trial ran from the 9th until the 20th of December. The menus
are being user tested by Braille readers, and following
successful feedback (we hope!) their design will become the foundation
for more menus to be installed throughout the site.
