Joint projects
The Sensory Trust and Sheffield City Council have developed a close
working relationship, in order to help SCC bring their parks into
compliance with the Disability Discrimination Act in 2004, and also
to open their
parks up to a wider audience. With over 700 parks within their
remit it is something that SCC is very keen to do something about.
As Martin explained, ‘We get 25 million visitors to our parks
each year. So, by estimate, up to 5 million of these visitors may well
have a disability, and we want to make sure we are as inclusive as possible.
We also want to know about people who are not using our parks’.
